The high melting point of PA 6 is the basis for very good thermal stability and heat resistance, which is, for example, an important basis for use in the curing and processing of duromers or thermosets as well as thermoplastic fiber composites. In detail these are:

  • Foils for vacuum bonding technology in aircraft, vehicle and ship construction
  • Release foils (release film) for SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) prepregs
  • VARTM (Vaccum Assist Resin Transfer Moulding) films for the manufacture of wind turbines, rail vehicle and aircraft components
  • Foils as binders for organo sheets

The (long-term) temperature stability of PA 6 can be significantly improved by additives that we integrate into our film extrusion process improved, for example up to 205°C (standard PA) or 230°C (special co-polyamide), which means that special adhesive techniques in aircraft and shipbuilding can be covered.

Polyamides are polar and hygroscopic thermoplastics, films made from them are characterized by a relatively high water vapor permeability (WVTR = Water Vapor Transmission Rate). The performance of various polyamide monofilms can be varied over a wide range by adding flame retardant additives, for example, or by combining them with fabrics or nonwovens. The so-called sd value is the generally accepted quality criterion for quantifying barrier and breathability in this industry. We will be happy to provide you with more information on request.

  • Roof underlays
Roofing membranes are a fixture in the construction industry and can be highly complex combinations of different materials, with polyamide films always being part of the solution. Our latest innovation is the flame-retardant Vario® Fire system.
